We undertake many of the significant landscape and urban design projects in the region and interstate.

Being successful in a creative profession means you have to be continually exposing yourself to new ideas, new materials, new ways of designing, working with people and enhancing places for people to live and enjoy…… each project offer opportunities to provide successful creative outcomes.

About Us

Terras are also aware of the commercial, financial and practical considerations of each project and look to co-ordinate the design with practical solutions.


We have experience continually working with architects, councils, developers, artists, park managers, public institutions, housing and engineers.

Terras has been involved in thousands of projects with an experience base of over thirty years extending throughout the Hunter Region as well as interstate areas. Terras develop strong client relationships and deliver unique design solutions and a history of successfully completed projects.


Phillip Williams - Director

Phillip joined Eckford Johnson Partners in 1987 following the successful completion of his degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Sydney. Phillip was made an Associate in 1990 in response to the growing demand in landscape architectural services. In 1995 Phillip became a director of the then newly formed EJE Landscape Architecture, now Terras Landscape Architects.

Phillip is responsible for management and coordination of projects as well as undertaking client liaison and marketing being successful in establishing the strong network of clients that we now have

Phillip oversees projects ensuring that the work produced is of a high professional standard demonstrating above-average competency and innovation. This has been evidenced by the practice being able to secure numerous local and state awards for design excellence and construction and paced as the leading Landscape Architecture in NSW practice north of Sydney.

Steven Rushworth - Director

Steven is a registered landscape architect and a director of Terras Landscape Architects with over thirty five years experience in landscape and urban design projects including many of the regionally significant projects. Some of these  recent projects include Newcastle’s Honeysuckle Foreshore re-development, Newcastle City Council ongoing Bathers Way Coastal Revitalisation, Newcastle Heritage Sea Baths and the South Newcastle Beach skatepark and promenade.

Steven manages many of the Terras projects from the initial design concepts through to completion and has the skills and valuable experience necessary to identify early design opportunities that may be integrated into projects to achieve successful outcomes.

Steven brings to a project his enthusiasm about the landscape profession and has extensive knowledge of construction processes supported with qualifications in horticulture, design and landscape. His involvement in the creation of new urban spaces and the detailed resolution of complex projects provides clients with the confidence to progress the desired landscaped outcomes.

Guy is a landscape architect and Director of Terras Landscape Architects and brings with him experience from working in both private industry and local government. Through this experience Guy has developed his knowledge and skills in design, documentation and graphic presentation.

Guy’s design experience covers a variety of projects including industrial and residential subdivisions, residential and commercial landscapes, resorts, parks and open space, public infrastructure, and environmental works.

Within Terras Guy is involved in design development and coordination during the early stages of a project as well as the documentation and administration involved in seeing a project through to completion.

Kate brings with her experience working in large and small scale private industry in both New Zealand and Australia. Through this experience Kate has developed her knowledge and skills in design, documentation and graphic presentation. Kate’s design experience covers a variety of landscape architecture and urban design projects including subdivisions, residential / commercial landscapes, resorts, parks and open space, environmental works and public infrastructure. Kate has been involved in design, documentation through to project management. Kate has a particular passion for design of public and urban spaces and has specialised in this area within Terras.
